The duvet will probably help, for a while. When you can afford it, get yourselves a memory foam mattress. I've always suffered with aches in bed, this is the best solution yet! No need for the really expensive one, just get the normal foam with memory foam on one side type. We got ours for about £275 from an internet dealer. (Sorry can't remember w more…

Oh, I *so* understand. I tried putting everything into boxes and bags once, figuring I'd sort it later. I never did and the mess grew around the boxes. So under all of this are bags of stuff that need to be sorted.
My biggest mess is in my bedroom. Because of divorce complications, I've been preparing to move for a year. At first, I'd more…

Yep: step by step approach is best; one room at a time; set an alarm for an hour and focus on one thing, for example clearing the floor/seats/tops of furniture. When the alarm goes. Stop and do something fun for a while. Begin again when you are ready. Tick things done off a list so you can see how far you've come.

I know how you feel. My house is a tip too. I gave up years ago. In my house there are computers and computer parts everywhere, it drives me to distraction. How about just putting everything into boxes or bags- without sorting it out yet, getting everything clean, and leave it at that for today, unless you feel inspired to do more. Then, sort through a bag/box a day.
